At RangRakha, immersive workshops are designed as hands-on, artisan-led learning experiences that introduce participants to the full ecology of traditional textile production - materials, tools, techniques, and cultural context. Designed for all skill levels, from curious travelers and students to professional designers and craft enthusiasts, our programs offer a rare opportunity to learn directly from the source. All programs are conducted under the mentorship of Master Artisan Brij Ballabh Udaiwal and his skilled artisan team, using authentic GI-compliant Sanganeri processes and natural dyes.
Natural Dyeing
Discover the ancient art of creating color from nature. Participants learn the fundamentals of dye extraction from plants and minerals, fabric preparation, mordanting methods, and color development on cotton and silk. The workshops cover traditional knowledge systems as well as safe, sustainable practices essential to natural dyeing.
Sanganeri Hand Block Printing
This module introduces the GI-tagged Sanganeri printing tradition, including block types (Rekh, Datta, Gadh), layout systems, registration, and rhythmic printing techniques. Participants practice printing using traditional carved wooden blocks and natural dyes.
Dabu Resist & Indigo Dyeing
Focused on mud-resist techniques and indigo fermentation vats, this workshop explores layered printing, resist application, oxidation, and repeated dye dips to achieve depth of color and pattern — central to historic Sanganeri and regional resist traditions.
Eco Printing with Botanical Materials
Using leaves and flowers from the dye garden and local landscape, participants learn contact printing techniques on fabric through steaming and immersion methods, creating organic, site-specific textile impressions.
Programs range from short experiential sessions to multi-day intensive workshops and signature courses, suitable for travelers, design students, researchers, and professionals seeking in-depth craft engagement. Each workshop emphasizes not only skill development, but also an understanding of craft as culture, ecology, and livelihood.
